guest review: "the room was comfortable and very clean and tidy"

Review by Beth Camman

Frances and Alex made us feel very welcome. The room was comfortable and very clean and tidy. A generous breakfast was included and we were also invited us to share a meal with their family. We spent a few hours talking and sharing a delicious BBQ- such a great evening to remember.

Even though Tambisaan beach is quite a distance from the main tourist areas of Station 1 ,2 & 3 it is still a very busy place, but with more locals than tourists. We had to make a few trips from Tambisaan beach for meals or shopping and it was always easy to get a tricycle - usually cost 100 pesos each way.

We did not find Tambisaan beach great for swimming as there are so many boats there and also sea urchins that we nearly stood on, so we preferred to take a trike ride to other beaches for swimming eg Puka shell beach and Diniwad beach.

"Frances and Alex arranged a 3 hour private
boat trip from Tambisaan beach for us
at a much cheaper price. We went snorkelling
at several reef areas. It was a great afternoon."

guest review: "the room and home altogether is absolutely beautiful, and if you're looking for the real Boracay . . ."

Review by Melissa Wolfe

Stay here stay here stay here!!! Staying with this family will absolutely MAKE your experience on Boracay. After a very last minute itinerary reroute to Boracay, they seamlessly communicated with me and welcomed me into their home. The room and home altogether is absolutely beautiful, and if you're looking for the "real Boracay,"- the beautiful island that is not just about party tourism- this is the place to be.

The home is situated at Tambisaan beach, which gives you access to swimming directly to the snorkeling site where you'd normally pay an arm and a leg for a tour boat to take you if you were to be down on the touristy part of the island. The area is totally quiet at night and is a great refuge to get a good night's rest in to wake up and take the island in early the next day. Transportation to the more commonly known-by-tourism part of the island is plentiful and very inexpensive (20 pesos), and it's easy and safe to get back home should you want to have a late night out.

Frances, Alex, Cole and Attika are an amazing family, and they are people you should for sure spend some time getting to know. They're super caring and genuinely good people.

If I didn't say it enough from the start, I'll say it again: STAY HERE!!!

guest comment: "they serve amazing breakfasts and it was wonderful just waking up everyday to a different culinary experience"

Review by Cammy Zulkifli

I can't say enough wonderful things about my stay at Cole & Attika Guesthouse! They serve amazing breakfasts and it was wonderful just waking up everyday to a different culinary experience. The room was beautiful -- clean, homely yet modern and definitely a different experience from the generic guesthouses around Boracay.
"The location is further off from the bustle and noise of White Beach but that's where the charm lies. I wanted to stay somewhere truly special and that was exactly what I got.

The hosts are kind, friendly, helpful and really looked out for me, especially as a solo female traveller on my first time to the Philippines. I am happy to call them friends and I look forward to going back soon! Hugs and kisses to Alex, Frances, Cole and little Attika. Love from Malaysia. X

guest comment: "If you want to escape from the stressful White Beach, Boracay Bed and Breakfast is the perfect haven"

Review by Maria Talitha Arroyo Ambrosio

If you’re an avid traveler and definitely want to experience a unique perspective not compromising the vast array Boracay island offers, Boracay Bed and Breakfast is the “it” place I must say.

Located along Tambisaan Beach that is known for its crystal clear water, picturesque view, serene atmosphere and friendly locals. The bamboo villa is so close to the beach you can almost hear the splashing waves. You can soak under the sun and explore the hidden beauty of the beach and nearby islands. It is also very accessible to the throbbing long beach. All you need is a short ride.

Staying there for 3 nights was like communing with nature. It’s a paradise for relaxation and leisure. Chirping birds gladly greet you in the early morning and the ocean breeze is the ambiance filling the entire room as I lay in a comfy bed not to mention the presence of air conditioner and ceiling fan, though I haven’t used them for the room is perfectly ventilated. A well designed bathroom with hot and cold shower you will surely enjoy and a lovely terrace (my favourite part) overlooking the untouched nature. You can also connect with your loved ones and friends via wifi. The facilities are impressive for a rustic bamboo villa. And there is something exciting and special to look forward to in the morning. Their breakfast! It is served excellently. The place is a stunning tropical.

If you want to escape from the stressful White Beach, Boracay Bed and Breakfast is the perfect haven. That’s why I love it. It is always a pleasure to travel away from home and yet find home in a place like this.

“A Little Slice of Heaven”

Review posted on www.boracaylive.com

CLOSER TO NATURE AND THE LOCALS
Easily accessible, Tambisaan Beach has a docking area for visitors coming to Boracay Island from Caticlan. And though it is not as expansive as White Beach, a lot of vacationers stay at Tambisaan because of its peaceful and serene atmosphere. It is ideal for those wishing to explore a deeper side of Boracay -- the marine life, the surroundings and the people.
Not just one more strip of sand on the island, Tambisaan Beach is one of the best places to truly commune with nature at its most basic, without the constant noise and crowds of other beaches. It also allows visitors a chance to be more at home with the people living there.

EASY ACCESS BY LAND OR SEA
Travelers from Caticlan may choose to take the ferry going directly to the Tambisaan seaport, situated in the middle of Manoc-Manoc and Bantud districts. If coming from D Mall, Boracay’s main commercial area, travelers may flag a tricycle, the local motorized rickshaw, for a 10-minute ride to Tambisaan. Guests can easily find the cozy local village, which is just next to the beach itself.
Along with the “paraw”, or local sailboats permeating the coast, the flora and geography surrounding the beach provide a different kind of appeal. With a backdrop of fluffy white clouds and clear blue sky, the scene is simply picturesque. The waters are undoubtedly an attraction on its own. Walking on the shore and seeing the bluish-green waters lapping your feet can make you want to dive right in. And when you do, you will get to see a multitude or marine life and brilliantly colored corals.

A LITTLE SLICE OF HEAVEN
Another aspect that makes Tambisaan Beach so beautiful is the geography. It’s as if Mother Nature intentionally formed and merged the verdant foliage and wooded slopes with the crystalline water and powdery white sand of the beach to create this little slice of heaven. Even just standing on the beach, visitors will be able to see Crocodile Island in the distance.
The peaceful ambiance of the beach has encouraged the construction of a few hotels near Tambisaan Beach. Although they are not as many as in other beaches, there is enough to offer guests everything they will need -- from rooms to food, refreshment and gear for diving.

“Pristine Waters”

Review posted on www.boracayinsider.com

The pristine waters of the beach are without question the biggest attraction here. Like the other beaches on the island, the waters here are clean and clear, which make it very enticing for swimming and snorkeling. You can also stroll along the beach and feel the sand, which can be very relaxing. You will also enjoy a good view of Boracays hills and trees.
Visiting the beach, you will also enjoy the lovely blue sky. The sky and clouds, together with the soft sand, combine for a very attractive scenery.

Great Place for Windsurfers

Review posted on splocs.com

Tambisaan Beach is a great place for advanced and expert riders. The wind blows side-on-shore port tack. A constant wind, which averages 15-25 knots, sometimes reaches 30-35 knots (about 10 times per season). Blows constant the whole day. It has wind from mid November until the beginning of April. But the best time to go for wind is between December and February when the wind is at its best.

kiteboard tour asia's boracay leg

When the original 2013 KTA schedule was released, Boracay in the Philippines was to be the first tour stop in January, a month of guaranteed wind in this kiting paradise.  January is also the best month for kite tourism and local kite businesses and by there being a KTA stop in the middle of this month it would limit the opportunities for the local kiters.  KTA’s mission is to grow kiteboarding in Asia and thanks to the support of our understanding and forward thinking local sponsors Aqua Boracay by Yoo (www.aquaboracay.com) the alternate date of 26 to 30 March was set and what a week it turned out to be.

This Easter break also known as ‘Holy week’ in the Philippines is one of their biggest holiday weeks and Boracay was teeming with people.  The start of April is also considered the kiteboarding season end on Bulabog beach, with the winds turning 180 degrees and the kiting venue moving across to the famous White Beach.  The KTA however seem to have wind wherever they go and it was once again true with not a windless day for the 4th KTA Boracay event in as many years.

boracay named 'world’s best island'

Boracay has been named as this year’s world’s best island getaway by an international travel magazine.

The magazine’s editor, Nilou Motamed, made the announcement Friday on the “Today” daily American morning television show that airs on NBC.

“The world’s best island, I confess to never having heard of it in the Philippines,” “Today” host Willie Geist.

“This is important, Boracay. It beat out Bali, number 2. It’s one of those islands you should know about if you’re interested in culture and value,” Motamed told Geist.

boracay, kiteboarding capital of asia

Island hosts 1st Kiteboard Tours Asia
ARCHIVED: 3/18/2010

By Cynthia L. Carrion
PHOTO KRISTINA BOTT

Boracay is indeed a sports tourism paradise! From swimming delights to volleying a ball on its crystal-white powdery shorelines, one does not run out of ways to unleash dynamism and energy into a superbly magnificent and active recreation in Boracay.

An amazingly-big crowd of local and foreign competitors and spectators from 20 countries trooped to Boracay from February 24 to 27, 2010, for the 1st Kiteboard Tours Asia. Supported by the Department of Tourism, the event showcased the rising popularity of another water sport that the Philippines can confidently host.

Kiteboarding (or kitesurfing) usually requires different boards and specific performance kites.  The boards with or without foot-straps or bindings, and are combined with the power of a large controllable kite to propel the rider and the board across the water. Both kiteboarding and kitesurfing are a surface water sport that uses the wind to pull a rider through the water on a small surfboard or a kiteboard (similar to a wakeboard). In kiteboarding, a freestyle or wake-style is used. This differentiates from kitesurfing which is more "wave-riding" oriented.

The Kite Tours Asia held in the Philippines was a perfect sample of a sports tourism event that once more made the Philippines proud of its stunningly-tropical climate, with a wind condition that is very conducive to kiteboarding.

This event (The KTA) has been formed to give an international platform to the skills and talents of kiteboarders throughout the Asia Region. It is the first international tour of its kind in Asia that will have to stop in five different countries between September 2009 and March 2010.

Open to everyone, amateur and pro riders alike, the KTA in its first year will be running two disciplines (freestyle and course racing) at each tour stop in accordance with the new unified international competition rules by the International Kiteboarding Association (IKA).
The philosophy of the KTA is to start slow and grow steadily to especially give homegrown riders the opportunity to experience the fun and excitement of being part of an international competition scene. It hopes to provide a stepping stone for the Asian region’s best riders into the pro tour scene by giving them exposure to high level competition at a more local level.
